DiGiCo Mixes it up at AFL Grand Final 2007

Saturday, 29th September saw the Melbourne office of Norwest Productions use its brand new DiGiCo D5T to mix FOH and all the stems for the live broadcast of the pre-match entertainment at the AFL Grand Final 2007. The show featured Jet and Rogue Traders front woman Natalie Basingthwaite, along with presentations honouring AFL retirees, Hall of Fame inductees and this years Coleman Medallist.

Ernie Rose, who is one of Australias biggest names in studio, live, and OB mixing, took the helm in spite of the fact that his beloved Collingwood Magpies didnt make the cut. Ernies setup for this huge event included the D5T, a DiGiRack taking AES3 and analogue backups of all the stage inputs, and a D5T-RE; a self-contained redundant DSP engine. Much of the 32x32 matrix was used for main and backup sub-mixes to send to Channel 9 for their live broadcast as well as the house public address system.

The event ran smoothly and the debut of Norwests DiGiCo rig was met with much enthusiasm. No one was disappointed, except for maybe several thousand Port Adelaide fans.
